I am posting this for a dear friend who this character was made for. Auntie Maim, here is, in her own words, the continuing life of Rachel Van Helsing, Nightstalker of the Hellriders.
Hunter’s Journal: Entry 172
I felt alive for the first time in a long time today. I almost died. The team got wind of a rave being held at a warehouse tied to dark events. We decided to go investigate it for ourselves. We left earlier in the day, because the team wanted to get a ride so they are no longer dependants on the school. Not my deal, but they are the one’s paying. They got an Escalade, and Amazon got it tricked out by her friends. It is a nice ride, but not my style. I saw John (Gun Hand) and Diana (Amazon) both had motorcycles. Maybe, now that I am on the team, I can get a bike as well. Dad would flip, but I know Uncle Otto has one, so it stands to reason I can get one.
As we arrive at the scene, we discover we are not the only ones who are staking out the place. An organization called the Sword of Damocles also staked out the warehouse. Dad had told me about them. Bad news for anyone in the “know”, like Spooky and me. They have a tendency to shoot first, clean the scene, and never ask questions. Before we decided to check them out more, we spotted a demon and a couple of Golems outside the club. Spooky used his contacts to get most of the kids out, but there were still some inside. We in the SUV made the call to strike the bastards before they could do anything. While we did that, Amazon and Gun Hand distracted the Sword by dropping the building some of them were camped on. It was great! One hit and Amazon dropped it like a house of cards. Her strength is amazing.
While they did that, we ran down a demon with our ride! Isaac (Rua’h) drove it down and we bailed to hit the warehouse. As we powered up to get going, Sean (Iron) went through the wall and the team attacked. There were some kids there, and there was a nest of demons and a vampire. The vampire knew who I was (Dad said they’ve had our scent for years), and attacked me. I thought this was my time to shine, fighting something I have been trained to from the time I could walk, and it took me down in one hit. It shredded my armor and tore my abdomen open. As I fell, I saw Z point her screwdriver at the vamp and shower it with UV light. Z healed me up quickly, and I fought to cover Gun Hands back from zombies and golems. We fought hard and won, and even got us an informant. Claude, a career henchman, told us the plans and gave us a weird coin. Spencer took it to Uncle Otto, so maybe he can find something. I like working on this team, I just wonder if I can pull my weight. I should have taken out the vamp no sweat, and I went down with one hit. I need to do something about it.
Hunter’s Journal: Entry 173
What an interesting week. Once the fervor died down from our raid on an abandoned warehouse, Spencer (Spooky, my Uncle’s apprentice) was able to track some information about the coin we received from the henchman Claude. It turns out the coin was paid to the head of an assassin’s guild in the 11th century. It fell into the hands of a man named Javier de Silva, known in the circles as the “Coin Collector”. Seems this guy tried to get info about the 30 Dendrii Coins of Judas about 20 years ago. Luckily, it was Uncle Otto who was the specialist called in. Uncle Otto threw him off the scent, but was unable to keep track of him. Spencer feels this might be a link to something, but we are not sure what. Another strange thing, the coin has a weird energy signature to it. Z says it is tied to a King of Edom, known as the King of Lost Hope. I am not sure who or what that is, but the Hellrider tied to Spencer, the Fire-Bearer, is opposed to the King. They gave me a Hellrider amulet as well, waiting to be activated. I wonder whom I am tied to?
I was called into the office again earlier this week. John and I were caught playing with our knives in the cafeteria. I don’t know why I did it, but it feels kinda good to not be hiding among the normal kids. The team is a great way to stretch my legs and cut loose a bit. The dean read me and John the riot act, and took our knives (mine was a cheap knock off I carry for that reason). I got two weeks detention and I had to see the councilor, apparently they think I am not the person that I was before. No kidding, I almost died. The “games” we are playing are real. The team is doing good work, and I think I need to step up and help.
Strange things have been happening at the school. Its like people are losing their minds. Acting completely different, its like pod people stuff. Isaac and Joan (Z) think there is more to it, so we skip the afternoon classes and scout out the dorm rooms of people who have gone weird.
We find some weird lead crystal cubes in all the rooms, and they scan nothing. Isaac thinks they are connected, so we looked into people who did not come into school. We narrow it down to one kid, so using his nifty new flight ring; Isaac goes to check the kid out. While Isaac scanned it out, we called in the headmistress to inform her of our discoveries. Isaac did find out some weird stuff while sneaking into the house and searching for the kid, but before he could strike, an UNTIL unit came into the house. Isaac tried to get a message to the unit, but Plato routed the call to a “hero” named Ravager. He claimed to be the heir apparent to Nighthawk in Hudson City. He has close ties with UNTIL, and told us that there is no unit operating at that location. As we tried to figure out the problem, Ravager told Isaac to get out. As he tried to argue, a portal opened up in the house. Spencer teleported him to outside the house, but before he did, Spencer saw the aura was the same as Isaac. As Spook watches using his Aura Sight through Isaac’s eyes, we saw the doppelganger activate a cube and it take over the kid.
Isaac and Joan guessed that it was an invasion from the “Left-Hand World”, a place where everyone is opposite. They met a guy from that dimension and brought him here, and he was terrified of our team, apparently, they work for the government as a superhuman attack team. When we told the headmistress, she locked down the school and instructed the super kids to remove the suspected kids from class. Joan, Spencer, John, and me got trapped in the information control room. Once they got them out, Plato sealed the normal kids in class, and put them to sleep in order to protect them.
The super teams attempted to round up the Pod Kids, but the kids ambushed them. They came prepared and attacked the students. Our groups took out the first wave of kids, but then an arc opened in the hall, and our doubles came through. They took out Sean with a magnetic rail-gun. Spencer’s double, drained the soul out of Diana. It turned the tide, and the new arrivals tore into the students. Plato used an emergency teleporter to rescue the students, transporting them to med-bay. The emergency lockdown of the school is locked in such a way, that only the headmistress could reboot the system, and that would have to be from the control room. Isaac, meanwhile, waited at the scene for the Champions. They arrive just after the Left Hand UNTIL team leaves.
He tells the Champions his thoughts, and they said they have protocols in place for this event. They said they would start at the house and that Isaac flew back to school. The teachers start moving towards the control room, to re-set the school systems. While waiting, we get a power flux. Spencer uses his powers to contact Rory the mole man. He is unconscious, so Spence can take over the body. As he peeks around, he sees the Left hand world versions of us. They look so different.
Sean is a monstrous, metal version of himself. Isaac looked like a nazi mad scientist. Joan looked like a cyborg. Ruby and Totem, still alive, cuddled in a corner. Ruby looked like a dominatrix and Totem was a beast-like form. Spencer has the body of a body builder, fit and vain. Mimi was a flickering form of vibrations. John, as scary as it sounds, looked the same, but his eyes were dead. I look so different. Spencer says he thinks I might be undead. I shutter to think of that. Reverse Isaac and Joan start working on the power system, doing something to the relays. As Spook tries to get an idea of what they are doing, Totem sees him and informs Isaac. Spence pulls back, just as they look towards the mole man. Seconds later, the body of Rory, neck and back broken, appears in the control room.
Isaac is enraged. He and Joan work out what they could be doing. They think the reverse us are trying to switch their earth with ours. Isaac is of the opinion we need to stop ourselves. Joan said with her advanced tech, she should be able to create a device to reverse the flow of energy. Isaac also said we can use the energy from the generator to tune the dimensional vibrations of the Left Hand guys to make them shift back to their world. Isaac says this is an all or nothing deal, even if we die trying, we have to give Joan enough time to get her tech up and working. Joan is still working on how much time it will take to get the energy right, but it looks like 2-3 minutes.
Sean and Isaac agree that we will gather ourselves in the control room, and then have Spooky to port us into the generator room. We have to be fast and careful. If anything happens, or we damage something, the power source could blow and Isaac said it amounts to “crossing the streams”.
So now we prepare for a war against ourselves. Well-trained, no hesitation, hunter/killers. We have to work fast. Isaac says we have less than 10 minutes. Joan says she can have her stuff ready in 5. With 2-3 minutes to get it going, it is going to be close.
Then again, this is what hero’s do, right? If needed, our lives for billions. Good trade. I hope to make Dad proud.
